The Sony DCR-HC28 is a MiniDV tape based, NTSC DV standard definition video format, consumer camcorder.
You need a Firewire cable to connect the DV port on the camcorder to the firewire port on your computer. Firewire, IEEE1394, DV and i.LINK are all the same thing. The camcorder’s DV port is a 4-pin IEEE1394 compliant firewire port. The firewire port on a MacBook Pro is a 9-pin firewire port.
With the camcorder correctly connected to the Mac (above) and the camcorder in “Play” mode, launch iMovie and Capture or Import the video. It depends on the version iMovie you are using… then Edit, save… “Share” or export if needed…
